3 Tasks You Shouldn't Delegate

Focus your time on the things that yield results.

Spark: October 2024

The real estate business is fast-paced and highly competitive, so to succeed, you have to build a top-level team. Once you do, you have the freedom to delegate tasks so that you can focus on your highest priorities. But not everything should be handed off to others. If your goal is to build lifetime clients and referrals, don’t miss out on these opportunities to strengthen your customer experience.

1. Key moments in the transaction.

Your clients are trusting you with a major financial and emotional purchase, and they need to know you’ve got their back on the important stuff. Initial meetups, negotiating the offer, navigating setbacks: These are the times your clients need you to show up. Make sure you communicate major news, and go with them to closing so you’re the one to share the big day with them.

2. Essential relationships.

You can’t build your business without a solid professional network, so you need to carefully cultivate these relationships. Only you can decide which partners align with your principles and goals, like providing exceptional customer experiences or prioritizing open communication. There’s no substitute for you when it comes to building these key relationships.

3. Gifts and in-person visits.

These are the actions that solidify relationships and build lifetime clients. By definition, they are personal, meaning they should come directly from you. Don’t undercut the gesture by handing it off to someone else. After all, how would you feel if a loved one designated a personal assistant to pick out and deliver your birthday gift?
