Hit the ground running on January 2.
The year is winding down, and you may be seeing a seasonal drop-off in business. That makes it tempting to hibernate until the new year kick-starts your energy. But between now and New Year’s Day, there are three things you can do to set yourself up for a successful 2025. And best of all, they’ll still leave you time to enjoy the holidays with family and friends.
Plan your budget.
This isn’t the most exciting task, but it’s a critical need. If you’re not already itemizing and recording all expenses, set up a tracking system. Review this year’s expenditures for things like marketing, professional dues or fees, operating expenses, etc., and estimate whether you need to adjust spending next year. With your budgeting done, you can save that big New Year’s energy for more creative and people-focused tasks.
Check your online footprint.
Taylor Swift has a big reputation. How about you? Scroll through all your social media channels, plus reviews on sites like Zillow, Google, and Yelp, to see what people are saying about you. Hopefully most of it will be good, but if there are negative posts, see if there’s a problem you can fix or a relationship you can mend.
Catch up on your reading.
Finally … a solid business reason to hole up at a coffee shop with your favorite caffeinated drink (and maybe a pastry). Bring a pen and notebook, and as you read that inspirational biography, personal development book, or Pinterest board full of articles, jot down meaningful quotes and ideas you want to implement next year. Reflect on how these relate to your past experience and goals for the future. Then step into 2025 with a renewed energy and vision for your business.
